BMSB Fumigation Measures for #Australia
Seasonal Measures:
Specific goods manufactured in or shipped from high-risk countries between September 1st and April 30th (inclusive) will be subject to Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) seasonal measures. These measures also apply to vessels berthing, loading, or #transhipping from these countries during this timeframe.
Key Date: The shipped-on-board date on the Ocean Bill of Lading is used to determine if measures apply, not the "gate-in" date.
Mandatory Fumigation and Fees:
To prevent #BMSB infestation, mandatory fumigation will be conducted on all high-risk cargo, incurring a fee. High-risk goods include those falling under the following HS codes:
44 to 45: Wood, cork, and related products
57: Textile floor coverings
68 to 70: Stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, ceramic, and glass products
72 to 75: Metal goods (iron, steel, copper, nickel)
76 to 80: Aluminum, lead, zinc, and tin articles
81 to 89: Miscellaneous metal goods, machinery, vehicles, aircraft, ships, and related equipment
Note: These measures aim to protect Australia's #agriculture and #environment from the invasive BMSB.
